Three guesses as to what these are:




Today's photos are of Victorian gentlemen’s smoking caps.  Popular
between the 1850's and the end of the 19th century, smoking caps
were influenced by a fashion staple in the Middle East - the fez.

Like most antiquities made from fabric, not many
125+ year old fezzes have survived the ravages of time.
Which is what makes them highly collectible.




Not only do they look uncomfortable, they're not
exactly, well, manly.  The ear flaps don't help.
